PET SUPPLIES SHOP VOLUNTEER ROLE DESCRIPTION
LOCATION AND HOURS: NEWRY – SHIFTS
REPORTS TO: CUSTOMER CARE AND RETAIL MANAGER
PRINCIPAL FUNCTION: The purpose of this role is to assist in the day to day running of the USPCA pet supplies shop, to maximise sales and increase fundraising income for the charity.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
· To assist and serve customers, providing a good level of customer service.
· To assist with processing deliveries, including receiving, stickering and stocking out.
· To assist with C-Date checks and price reductions.
· To assist in the visual merchandising of the store and the display of products.
· To assist with loss prevention through customer service.
· To assist in regular deep clean of shelving, plinths, and kickboards.
· To assist in keeping the shop and warehouse areas clean and always organised.
· To assist with price reviews and stock take.
· To be a good ambassador for the USPCA, supporting and endorsing the aims of the charity and promoting the good image of the charity when interacting with the public and fellow volunteers.
· To assist in ensuring all health and safety processes are followed.
· To manage all data in relation to the USPCA clients in accordance with data protection legislation and confidentiality.
· To participate in events arranged by the USPCA to support the charitable work of the USPCA.
· To undertake any other duties as and when necessary.
SKILLS, QUALITIES AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THE ROLE:
· To be over 16 years of age.
· To have the ability to communicate with the public in a professional manner (Essential).
· To be reliable and trustworthy.
· To enjoy working as part of a team.
· To be able to work on routine tasks.
ALL VOLUNTEERS ARE REQUIRED TO:
· To adhere to the volunteer policy.
· To always work within the guidelines outlined in all other USPCA policies and procedures.
· To be smart in appearance and wear the uniform provided by the USPCA. Sensible shoes must always be worn.
· Maintain strict confidentiality.
· Participate in training deemed necessary by the USPCA and attend volunteer meetings.
