GROOMING ASSISTANT VOLUNTEER ROLE DESCRIPTION
LOCATION AND HOURS: NEWRY – SHIFTS
REPORTS TO: CUSTOMER SERVICE AND RETAIL MANAGER

PRINCIPAL FUNCTION: The purpose of this role is to assist the USPCA grooming staff in a busy working environment.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
· To assist with welcoming clients to the grooming room.
· To assist with bathing and brushing of dogs.
· To assist in de-tangling and removing matted hair.
· To assist with drying coats, trimming nails and cleaning ears.
· To assist with cleaning, hoovering, and keeping the grooming room tidy and organised.
· To assist with general laundry duties as part of each shift. This will include loading dirty laundry into the washing machine, removing washing from the washing machine and either into the dryer or onto the washing line and folding clean laundry and putting them away in the correct place in the cleaning store.
· To be a good ambassador for the USPCA, supporting and endorsing the aims of the charity and promoting the good image of the charity when interacting with the public and fellow volunteers.
· To assist in ensuring all health and safety processes are followed.
· To manage all data in relation to the USPCA clients in accordance with data protection legislation and confidentiality.
· To participate in events arranged by the USPCA to support the charitable work of the USPCA.
· To undertake any other duties as and when necessary.
SKILLS, QUALITIES AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THE ROLE:
· To be over 16 years of age.
· To have the ability to communicate with the public in a professional manner (Essential).
· To be reliable and trustworthy.
· To enjoy working as part of a team.
· To be able to work on routine tasks.
ALL VOLUNTEERS ARE REQUIRED TO:
· To adhere to the volunteer policy.
· To always work within the guidelines outlined in all other USPCA policies and procedures.
· Be smart in appearance and wear the uniform provided by the USPCA. Sensible shoes must be always worn.
· Maintain strict confidentiality.
· Participate in training deemed necessary by the USPCA and attend volunteer meetings.

TRAINING AND SUPPORT:
