Caring Breaks is recruiting Part-Time Bank Community Respite Workers on an "as and when" basis to provide support and respite to adults with learning disabilities, assisting them in their social and recreational pursuits.

Established in 1999, Caring Breaks was created to address the shortage of respite breaks available for those caring for adults with learning disabilities. The organisation provides regular, short breaks for family carers while offering social and recreational activities for their adult relatives with learning disabilities. Caring Breaks operates as a partnership between family carers, the business community, and the statutory sector.

Position: Part-Time Bank Community Respite Worker

Location: Belfast, Lisburn, and Bangor areas

Hourly Rate: £12.60

Hours: Flexible; shifts available on weekday evenings (5 pm – 9 pm) and Saturdays (1 pm – 5 pm).

Responsibilities:

Support adults with learning disabilities in a community setting, encouraging their social and leisure interests.
Ensure clients’ safety and involvement in chosen activities.
Assist with personal care, mobility, and skill development.
Report incidents and manage finances responsibly.

Person Specification

Knowledge:
Understanding of the rights and needs of people with learning disabilities.
Skills:
Self-motivation, reliability, flexibility, and good communication.
Experience:
Six months of caring experience (paid or unpaid), lone working, teamwork.
Circumstances:
Available to work evenings/weekends as needed, hold a full UK driving licence with access to an insured vehicle for work purposes.

Requirements:

Candidates must be over 18 years old.
Position requires an Access NI enhanced disclosure check.
