Help us protect one of Northern Ireland’s most stunning wild places!
Our Lower Lough Erne reserve is a haven for wildlife, but keeping these habitats in top condition takes hard work—and that’s where you come in. We’re looking for practical, hands-on volunteers to join our work parties and help maintain this special site.
Why This Role is Different
Lower Lough Erne is made up of beautiful islands that can only be accessed by boat. This means our work is highly weather-dependent, and plans can change at short notice. There are no fixed days—we’ll contact you when a work party is planned, and you can confirm if you’re available. You don’t need to attend every time, just when it suits you.
What You’ll Do
As a Reserve Work Party Volunteer, you’ll help with practical tasks that keep habitats healthy and visitor facilities safe. Activities may include:
• Cutting and clearing vegetation. • Maintaining tools and equipment. • Creating and repairing visitor infrastructure (fences, benches). • Following health and safety protocols. • Assisting with wildlife surveys.
What’s in it for You?
• Training provided – No experience needed; we’ll teach you everything. • Supportive team – Work alongside friendly staff and volunteers. • Learn new skills – Gain practical conservation experience. • Stay active – Enjoy physical outdoor work that benefits your wellbeing. • Make an impact – Help protect vital habitats for wildlife.
Ideal for You If You Are:
Happy to work outdoors in all seasons. Flexible and available at short notice. Keen to learn and work as part of a team. Physically able to take part in practical tasks.
This is a rewarding role where you’ll experience wild places up close, meet new people, and make a genuine contribution to nature conservation. If you’re passionate about wildlife and want to help protect it, we’d love to hear from you!
