Support Workers provide a support service to the Therapeutic Treatment Programme, in order to ensure that a safe and therapeutic environment is maintained. The role is to offer support and care by facilitating open and collaborative conversations that can assist Service Users in their discovery of alternative solutions to substance misuse difficulties.
Location: Carlisle House Substance Use Treatment Centre
Salary Scale: £12.74 per hour (Pay is under review 1st April 2026)
Hours: 22.5 hours per week – evenings & weekend day shifts (sleep-in duties required and are in addition to 22.5 hours)
1. QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
· Grade C GCSE English and Maths or equivalent
2. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
Essential
· Knowledge and understanding of substance use: reasons and contemporary treatments
· Knowledge and understanding of establishing collaborative and empowering relationships.
3. RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
Essential
· At least one year’s experience of working in a setting where the primary focus of support is with adults who have mental health or substance use difficulties.
· Experience of maintaining records electronically
5. SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES
Essential
· Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and sleepovers.
· Registration or be willing to register with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council.
· Must be willing to behave in a manner which respects the Christian ethos of the
Presbyterian Church in Ireland and the ethos of Carlisle House i.e. respect, acceptance and compassion
